Earlier this month we introduced you to “Print Austin” which has become quite the talk about town.
We encourage you to get out and about from your home in Juniper Springs to enjoy some warm and wonderful artisty in and around the city of Austin.

Student Work from Texas A&M Corpus Christi, featuring the work of undergraduate and graduate printmaking students under the tutelage of Professor Ryan O’Malley. Live T-Shirt Printing Demonstrations, Block Carving, Ink Slinging, Refreshments will be served,

The Art of the Print
Selections from the Blanton’s encyclopedic collection of prints and drawings will be on view in the museum’s HEB Print Study Room. The works highlight a variety of printmaking media–from monotypes to mezzotints, and metalcuts to lithotints, as well as original drawings for print production and process prints.

Changing The Subject: The Women Artists of The Experimental Printmaking Institute (EPI)
Artist: Faith Ringgold
Founded in 1996 as part of Lafayette College in Easton, PA, the Experimental Printmaking Institute (EPI) has had a special emphasis on publishing minority artists. The results of these print collaborations have been included in many important collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art. A talk will be given by EPI’s founder, Curlee Raven Holton.

The shop at ASPCO

With the new year comes a variety of new opportunities to celebrate the arts and culture that make our city such a great place to live and work. This month we’re dedicating our January Blogs to share insight about Austin’s long-standing and nationally recognized independent fine art printmaking scene.
Thanks to lots of energy by many or our visual arts, those whose artistry is in printmaking in particular, there’s a new celebration entitled “PRINT AUSTIN” underway now through February as well that showcases some of the finest renown print collections, printmaking programs and more that welcome all of us to enjoy.
To get you started, we’ve highlighted some of our favorite events from Print Austin’s website and will share our synopsis through this blog and our next blog that will be published later this month.
