Ask anyone within our apartment community what they like about living at Juniper Springs, and chances are, everyone will have a different answer – and with good reason. Within our community and wrapped all around for miles and miles are endless reasons why Austin was just chosen as one of the top retirement spots in the nation.
Within an article on BestBabyBoomerTowns.com, the author noted many of the reasons why we love it here, and why boomer from all over the USA are now calling Austin “home sweet home.”
“Ask people what they love most about living in the Austin area, and you’ll find as many answers as stars in the big Texas sky. For some, it’s the Hill Country, with its gentle rolling slopes and beautiful vistas. For others, it’s the lakes, the creeks, and the swimming holes that offer an escape from the work-a-day world.
Others claim that the real reason to live here is the culture, the arts, the laid-back attitude. Whether you are an Austin native or a recent transplant, Austin is a city of worldly culture where people feel welcome.
Education has always been a central concern in Austin, probably because the city’s such an educated town.”
Here's more insight about why our community in Austin, TX, is seeing such growth of the Boomer market. US News and World Report placed our thriving city in the #4 top spot of places to retire in Texas. Within their article it noted:
“Austin's hot job market and unique, quirky culture draw many people to the area, including retirees. The city attracted over 16,439 new residents between July 2018 and 2019, according to U.S. Census Bureau data. This state capital city is the home of the University of Texas—Austin, where seniors age 65 and older can take up to six tuition-free credit hours per semester.
The area is also a hub for tech jobs, including Apple, Dell and IBM. Major health care providers include St. David's Medical Center and Ascension Seton Medical Center Austin. Housing in Austin costs more than in many other parts of Texas, but retirees relocating from more expensive cities with similar amenities may be able to reduce their housing costs.”
As we all continue to “grow-up” in our apartments that we rent in Austin, TX, let us all remember to get out and enjoy everything that our bourgeoning city has to offer all summer long!

1. Bring the Comfort

A sofa is the main piece to any living room, so why not make it stand out? Adding high-quality throw pillows that make a statement is a simple way to make your living room pop. Try playing with textures and stitching to find the perfect match for your space!
Sites like Wayfair.com and Pier1.com have beautiful, affordable options in all shapes and sizes. Pair your pillows along with a soft, cozy blanket that carries the same color themes and voila, your living room is transformed!
2. Add Some Borders

Prints and posters are an easy way to get our favorite art into our homes at an affordable price. However, most people leave their pictures unframed, instead tacking them up wherever is accessible in the moving craze – not to be touched again unless they fall down.
Unframed prints look unfinished. Adding a simple frame can really transform your picture – making that Monet poster from the museum actually look worthy of Monet! Take the time to measure your piece and go out and get a frame. It’s worth it!
3. Make it Match
Investing in a spice tower can really beautify your kitchen countertops and drawers to get rid of unwanted clutter. No more random jars with mismatched labels! Some spice racks even come with free refills, like this one on Amazon which refills for five years! Cooking will be more fun, too!
4. Go Green

House plants bring life into your space, but only if they’re still alive! Succulents make great house plants as they require little care and there are so many varieties.
Did you know you can buy plants from Amazon.com? Check out this 20 pack of succulents for only $40.00! You can decorate the whole house with this collection.
5. Bathe in Style

A beautiful shower curtain can transform your bathroom from something drab to something fab. Check out these options from Wayfair.com to bring your space up a notch!
So there you have it! Five easy tips to liven up your apartment that don’t require anything other than an online order. Happy shopping!

]]>The post AUSTIN’S BEST NEW BANDS BRING OUT THE BEST IN LOCAL TALENT (continued) appeared first on Juniper Springs A Concierge Community Blog.
]]>
Just a few weeks ago we started to post some insight about some of the hottest new musical talent that is born and raised and rising in and around your apartment in Austin at Juniper Springs. There is a such an increase in talent that we’re continuing this blog to showcase who else is new on the music scene in your hometown.
Otis The Destroyer
Inasmuch as we would have preferred to offer a bio straight off their website, we thought this write-up from Austin Monthly offered a great recap. “For veteran Austin musicians, one band usually leads to another. That was the case with Otis the Destroyer, a side project formed by singer/guitarist Taylor Wilkins in 2015 near the end of his tenure with his former band, the Couch. The new project was originally called Belushi, which became the title of their first EP, a heavy fuzzed-out rock record with a lineup of veterans from his previous bands: Anthony Rucci on guitar, Clellan Hyatt on drums, plus Kyle Robarge and Andrew Dalton splitting duties on bass. The sound is fast, rowdy rock ‘n’ roll, but with a sly sense of humor.”
Paul Cauthen
According to Paul Cauthen’s website … “ Paul remembers sitting alone in an Austin house after a weekend-long bender. A life making music seemed to be slipping away. Wide awake with nothing to lose, he fell on his hands and knees right there, bowed his head, and threw down a divine gauntlet. “I dared Him,” Cauthen says, recalling his desperate challenge to God. “I said, ‘Use me. I’ll be a rag doll. Just put me out there, let’s go. I dare you.’” Most people don't plead in the form of a dare. That blend of vulnerability and brash confidence is part of what makes Cauthen and his music––which often hinges on the same paradox––so compelling.
Bee Caves
Here’s an interesting overview of the Bee Caves as presented by Black Fret – which is a non-profit organization who’s mission is focused on enabling the creation and performance of new music by the exceptional musicians of our amazing city.” Their take on the band now follows: “Austin’s Bee Caves exists in between the layers of American music, showing a range as impressive and diverse as to blur the lines that divide rock, electronica, psychedelic noise and timeless Americana. The manic, honest urgency in Reed Calhoun’s lyrics is a central force guiding the music. Co-Producer and guitarist Sam Kearney is responsible for making the music expansive yet grounded in a disciplined use of mixed genres, textures, and sounds.”
White Label Analog
As the adage goes, “You have a lifetime to make your first record.” But that freedom of time is coupled with increased pressure. So often, debut albums are saddled with the weight of expectation. The members of Austin, Texas-based White Label Analog—vocalist Chris Didear, guitarist/vocalist James Millican, drummer/vocalist Heath Macintosh, keyboardist/vocalist Alison Pepper, and bassist Aaron Herbster—have been through that pressure before, and they know how to rise to the challenge with their electrifying debut album, In Case You Just Tuned In.
To learn about these bands, and many more, flip to the article that we used as our reference by clicking here. And then get out and get into some of the best new tunes in Austin!

Just ask any resident of Juniper Springs apartments right here in Austin, Texas, and they will be the first to tell you what makes living and working in our great city so great. There were too many to put into just one blog so we chose our favorites that we’ll share with you now.
- People are flat out friendly. I don’t know if it’s just because we hang in the mid-west or that we just have everything we need within a short scenic drive – yet it’s the sort of thing you notice right away – the people are just friendlier.
- It’s affordable! Just one look around our mighty city and you will find an incredible selection of things to do, see and purchase without breaking your piggy bank. I like to visit Groupon.com before I head out the door. It’s an online local’s discount program that offers endless specials on almost anything you’d want to do outside of your home.
- There’s no State Income Tax. For as long as I have lived in Juniper Springs apartments in Austin, my money has a slightly easier time staying in my pocket –thanks to the tax breaks that come with living in Austin.
- There’s stuff to do. A recent article in the paper noted that Austin hosts over 800 events throughout the year. That might be more celebration of the arts, culture and activity that one could handle in a year yet that’s just another reason why we love Austin so much.
